There are few things harder than feeling unable to help your child. Quite often this leads to contacting a professional which in some cases is necessary. However, sometimes with a more therapeutic, respectful or intentional parenting style, you can facilitate an environment where your child can begin to thrive again.
For complex family situations or traumatic experiences often 1-2-1 weekly sessions will be enormously beneficial to your child, however, with behavioural challenges, the most effective course is often changes at home.
In our session we will talk through a typical day for you and your child and address the challenges as they arise. Throughout the session I will make notes that will be sent out to you within a week of our meeting meaning you don't need to write notes or try and remember everything!
If it becomes apparent that your child is in need of 1-2-1 psychotherapy, I will certainly suggest this and if I am unable to help, will point you towards the right support.
Children Using art materials, plastiscines, role play and Sand Tray Therapy I can work with your child to help them process their emotions. Children and adolescents are often overwhelmed by their feelings and while traditional 'talking therapy' is sometimes suitable, for many young people it isn't a natural method of communicating. Through play, young children are able to process complicated emotions non-verbally leaving them less overwhelmed and potentially learning an emotional vocabulary.
Adults You may feel that you want to work short-term on a specific aspect of your life. You may feel that you want to take time to look back on your early life experiences or you may not know where to start or where you are going. Whatever your situation is, I will do my best to see the world as you do and, where possible, offer you an alternative perspective. My work is client-led, this means that you're in charge of the direction we go in and the pace at which we explore. We can also explore walk-and-talk sessions if sitting opposite one another feels overwhelming, these take place in Richmond Park,
